4 Signs an Executive Isn’t Ready for Coaching

For the fourth time in two years, the Harvard Business Review has published an article that Bloom Group helped FMG Leading develop. The article, published on July 9, became one of HBR’s 10 most popular articles that week. In the article, authors Matt Brubaker and Chris Mitchell describe four personality types they’ve encountered in their executive coaching practice who simply aren’t open to the deep self inquiry that coaching requires. The authors contend that until these executives have a change of heart, their companies are wasting money on expensive engagements that are unlikely to achieve the desired results – a novel argument that turns the idea that any leader can be transformed with the right coaching on its head.
