We often conduct research to help clients develop and support  a point of view. Below are some examples; click on the image to access a report.

Mobile Technology

In 2012, Tata Consultancy Services asked us to help them study how companies in 17 sectors are responding to consumer demand to interact via mobile. We helped TCS's experts analyze data that we gathered from two sources; a survey of more than 600 companies across the globe; and in-depth interviews with executives at major corporations. We captured the TCS mobile experts’ thinking in a research report, "The New Digital Mobile Consumer" which was published in September 2012.

Cloud Computing

In late 2011 we helped TCS conduct a study on "The State of Cloud Application Adoption in Large Enterprises." It explored which applications large companies worldwide are transferring to the cloud (both public and private). We helped TCS design research which included a survey of 600 senior executives and best practice case study interviews with a several large companies. We worked with TCS's cloud computing thought leaders to make sense of the data, and captured their analysis in a 100-page+ research report.

Real Estate

Jones Lang LaSalle is one of the largest commercial real estate brokerage and management firms in the US. In 2011 we helped JLL conduct a study on best practices in real estate and facilities management at large U.S. hospital systems. We conducted interviews with executives at 40 hospital systems to find out how the leaders were managing property differently than their peers. JLL used the study to further its reputation in healthcare, and conducted a marketing campaign that included extensive PR and videos of its experts discussing the findings.

KSA Localization

Retail

In 2009, we helped leading retail consultancy Kurt Salmon Associates design and conduct a study on retail localization — how large chains tailor their offerings and customer experiences in each of their stores to better meet local needs. The research was based on a survey of 300 U.S. retail executives and store managers, as well as case study interviews we conducted with KSA consultants at 10 large retail chains.

Leadership

In 2008, we ghostwrote a major study conducted by training and consulting firm Forum Corp. on leadership of corporate growth initiatives. In “One Size Doesn’t Fit all: The Distinct Leadership Capabilities for Organic, Alliance and M&A Growth,”  Forum explained how different growth strategies require very different leadership talents.

IT Strategy

In 2006 and 2007, we helped the $5 billion IT services firm Unisys Corp. conduct a major study on the state of IT support in big companies – how they were providing help-desk, training, “break-fix” and other tech support to their employees. The study was the centerpiece of a Unisys 2007 thought leadership marketing campaign called “Unlearn Outsourcing.” You can read more here.

Not-for-Profit Strategy

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce in 2004 commissioned the Bloom Group and strategy expert Michael Treacy to conduct a year-long research project to find out if growth strategies that work in the for-profit world apply as well to the non-profits. Research findings were based on 33 case studies, and a survey of 87 associations. The findings were released at an all-day educational event at the U.S. Chamber. You can read more here.

IT Strategy

In 2005, we helped Optaros, a fast-growing, Boston-based consulting firm and developer of Web systems, to design, conduct and analyze the findings of a survey on how U.S. companies were using open source software. We then helped Optaros produce a report that generated significant press attention, as well as a name for itself as a consulting firm that deeply understood the benefits and challenges of using open source software.  You can read more here.

Healthcare

In 2005, we helped Diamond Management and Technology Consultants Inc. (part of PwC since 2010) create a point of view on the health care industry—specifically, the role of health insurers in reducing burgeoning costs and improving quality.

Financial Services

In 2005, we helped Diamond Management and Technology Consultants (part of PwC since 2010) conduct a study and create a point of view on the state of the U.S. payments systems. In “Banking on Payments,” Diamond explained how the onset of electronic payments was shifting power from the major banks to focused credit card companies (Capital One, MBNA, etc.) and increasingly big retailers such as Wal-Mart and Target.

Human Resources

In 2004, we ghostwrote a study that Deloitte Research conducted on the war for talent, called “It’s 2008: Do You Know Where Your Talent Is?” We worked with lead author Robin Athey to organize communicate her findings, which were numerous and far-reaching.
